Answering the call of Matthew 25:36 “I was in prison and you came to visit me”. Bringing the light of Jesus into a very dark place

Kairos Prison Ministry has a profound impact on the lives of incarcerated men and women by offering spiritual support, community, and a sense of hope. Through its faith-based programs, Kairos helps inmates experience personal transformation, encouraging them to make better choices and find purpose despite their circumstances.

Some key ways the ministry affects prisoners’ lives include:

  1. Emotional and Spiritual Healing
  2. Community and Accountability
  3. Reduced Recidivism
  4. Improved Behavior in Prison
  5. Restored Relationships

Bio:

Don was born and raised in Berkeley, California. After graduating from high school in 1961 Don followed his older sister Marilyn to the University of California at Berkeley which was within walking distance of the family home. Berkeley in 1961 was just a sleepy little college town which soon would gain national and international headlines for student rights and Vietnam war protests.

By the time of his graduation in 1967 Don had met and married Perrin his wife of 58 years, added a child, Stephen, and took on a mother-in-law, Maya. Instead of planting roots in California the family moved to Virginia Beach in early 1968 to investigate Edgar Cayce and the ARE. Planting roots came very quickly upon arrival in Virginia Beach. A job with a major business machine company was secured within 3 days and a new church home came in 10 days. In the next 16 years Don and Perrin added four more children and adopted one more for a total of six.
Don remained in the office computer business for 40 years, retiring in 2009. After retiring Don became heavily involved in a prison and jail ministry called Outreach for Christ. That affiliation remains today with Don serving on the board of directors. In 2013 Don was invited to join a Kairos prison ministry team.
