ABOUT THE YOGA TEACHER:
Alexa Rivera is a E-RYT500, Raja Yogi, Laughter Leader teaching yoga to beginners and seasoned students since 2010. She was introduced to yoga by a good friend over 20 years ago and her own practice began. She was immediately drawn to that sense of calm, inner peace, and joy that a continuous practice awakened in her. In 2009 she enrolled in a teacher training program to become a certified yoga instructor teaching Hatha and Vinyasa yoga. She never turned back! Since completing her initial certification, Alexa went on to complete other teacher trainings in Chair Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga: The Primary Series, Yin, Raja Yoga, Adaptive Yoga and even Laugha-Yoga!
Alexa enjoys teaching and introducing people to yoga. Her wish is to share with her students the practice of yoga whether it’s on a mat, sitting in a chair or laughing in hopes that it can bring a sense of joy and peace in their lives as it has done for her and they in turn can spread that joy and peace with others. Alexa also holds an MBA and loves to travel. She resides in Virginia Beach with her husband Chris and their sweet pup Pipit.

ABOUT THE BENEFIT:
Neleh Poletsky, member of PranaMuktiBhakti, is helping her family raise money for a memorial scholarship in honor of her late niece, Mia Ryanne Barcarse. “Ryanne” passed away unexpectedly at the age of 14 on January 7, 2021.
The scholarship is to be awarded to a Marietta High School Senior in Georgia who embodies Ryanne’s kindness, compassion, creativity, and an ambitious nature to make a mark in the world.
Ryanne would have been a graduating senior at MHS in June 2024.
Ryanne was a shy, quiet, but incredibly artistic young lady. She played the violin, performed in Winter Guard, danced, sang, volunteered, baked, hand-crafted items, adored her animals and could illustrate and paint in all sorts of medium. These activities were telling of her contributions, interests, skills and attributes.
The Mia Ryanne Barcarse Memorial Scholarship honors her life by recognizing a Marietta High School senior with an interest to pursue a career in the arts and an innate desire to make the world a better place by utilizing his/her talents.
