On Sunday, Lloyd will be speaking on “Christianity and Islam.”
Christianity has 2.4 billion adherents, and Islam has 1.8 billion. But Islam is currently growing at twice the rate of the world population, and is expected to surpass Christianity by the year 2060.
These two great religions dominate the world scene, and yet they often suffer from a dearth of mutual understanding.
In the past, the Fellowship has hosted speakers from the Islamic community, and they have shared good information about Islam. But Lloyd feels that the Fellowship would benefit from a balanced side-by-side comparison, from a predominantly Judeo-Christian perspective.
Lloyd wishes to speak as interfaith clergy, in the waning days of the holy month of Ramadan, to ameliorate this schism, and to propound the idea that the similarities between these two great religions far outweigh any differences.
