Biography

Susan’s main ministries at the church are music performance and sharing Inner Light Consciousness and other related subjects. Her ministry at home is Motherhood. She is happy to have two wonderful daughters and two granddaughters and other family with whom she shares life and love.

Susan currently serves on the Pastoral Council and has served on the Board of Directors in the past. She was one of our teachers for the Children’s Program for 10 years. She now serves as the Office Manager of the church, Editor of the Newsletter, and she does the house cleaning for our building.

One of her great loves is being with and inspiring children and youth. Susan taught in various public and private schools in the Norfolk and Virginia Beach area through the years. She taught General Music, Chorus, and String Orchestra. She has taught in high risk inner city schools, and she has worked with emotionally disturbed children and autistic children. She loves teaching violin, viola, cello, voice, and piano to the students. She taught private lessons at Music and Arts for 23 years.

Susan has a Music Education degree and Violin Performance degree. She enjoyed playing violin in the Virginia Symphony Orchestra for 14 years until she had a shoulder injury.

It is the desire of Rev. Susan Thomas to encourage the soul expression of all people. She loves to help people to realize their true beauty and identity as sparks of God. As she studies and learns throughout life, she loves to share this journey with others. She believes that wherever you stand is Sacred ground because you are Sacred.
